Hi, I’m Saif Uzzal. If you’re here, chances are you love plants, gardening, and creating a beautiful outdoor space as much as I do.
Welcome to Tidy Living Ideas. I’m glad you’re here.
This little corner of the internet started because of a balcony, a pot, and a seed I had no business planting in a college dorm.
Our Story: A Shared Journey of Growth
Back in my early college days, when I was living in a dormitory with barely enough room to swing a backpack, I set a small pot on the balcony outside my room and dropped a seedling into it.
I couldn’t tell you exactly why I did it — maybe I needed something green in an otherwise beige world, or maybe I just wanted to see if I could.
That first plant didn’t ask much of me. A little water, a little sun, a little patience. And when it grew, something clicked. I was hooked.
“That first plant didn’t ask much of me — a little water, a little sun, a little patience. And when it grew, something clicked.“
Years later, I’m still at it. These days I’m a father and a husband, and the dorm balcony has been swapped for a small balcony at home — not much bigger, honestly, but full of everything I love.

I grow a handful of my favorite vegetables out there, squeezing every inch of railing and floor space until it starts to feel like a proper little garden. It’s my happy place.

And I don’t do it alone.
My wife, Liza, is just as passionate about indoor plants as I am — maybe more so.
She has a particular talent for the things I sometimes overlook: the flowering plants that need coaxing, the herbs that need just the right spot on a windowsill, the capsicums we’ve been growing together that somehow feel like a shared project even when neither of us planned it that way.

She keeps the greenery going when I get distracted, and she’s the one who notices when something needs attention before I do.
Between the two of us, our home is never short of something growing. Herbs on the kitchen ledge. Flower plants climbing toward the window.
A capsicum or two that always surprises us with how much it produces from such a small pot. We’re not professional horticulturalists. We don’t have a sprawling yard or a greenhouse.

What we have is a genuine love of watching things grow, and years of learning what works in small, real-world spaces.
That’s exactly what Tidy Living Ideas is built around. You won’t find abstract gardening theory here, or advice written for someone with a hectare of land and a full-time gardener.
You’ll find the things Liza and I have actually tried, the plants that have actually thrived in our little balcony and on our windowsills, and the honest lessons that came from the ones that didn’t make it.
Beyond gardening, the site is also a home for the broader ideas that come with creating a space you love — organisation, simple home care, the small things that make daily life feel a little smoother and a little more intentional.
Tidy living Ideas isn’t about perfection. It’s about knowing where things are, keeping what matters, and not overcomplicating the rest.
Whether you’re here for help with your first balcony plant, ideas for growing herbs indoors, or just looking for a bit of calm, practical guidance for your home — you’re in the right place.
Pull up a chair. We’re happy to share what we know.
